Live Streaming for Accessibility

Why motorsports should extend live streaming options for a more inclusive culture amongst fans.

Live streaming motorsports events so that everybody has the chance to be a fan. Let’s talk about how amazing this would be for accessibility and inclusion.

Social inclusion on all available platforms is one of the main key factors organisations should consider when they’re trying to make events accessible to people with a disability.

Ensuring everybody has an equal opportunity to access events as a Motorsport fan could be made so simple with the added incentive of live streaming Grand Prix events.

Live streaming can be made accessible with digital technology - open text captions, alternative transcripts, text to speech technology and audio descriptions.

The Monaco circuit is hard enough to navigate when you’re able bodied, let alone for people who need extra assistance or have limited mobility. Why doesn’t F1 take the gamble (see what I did there?) and live stream more Grand Prix events so that more people have access?! It just makes sense.

F1 academy would also benefit from live streamed access to their races. Those women are working so hard to further their careers, this platform for inclusion would let the fans have the chance to watch their closely as they work hard to achieve their goals.

Until the worlds motorsports authorities understand that everybody has a right to accessible services, we will continue to be met with silence. We will always be met with opposing points of view, but surely the entertainment value extends to everybody!
